August 19, 2013 The adventure begins.
December 2013 Received denial letter from Building Dept, which was needed to start Ch 12 and ZBA applications.
February 27, 2014 Letter of No Jurisdiction received from the DEC.
February 2, 2014 Received topographical survey of lot, which was required for ZBA application.
March 10, 2014 Test hole for Health Department dug by McDonald Geosciences.
March 31, 2014 Survey for Health Department application completed.
April 24, 2014 Zoning Board of Appeals hearing and approval for side yard setback relief and Chapter 12 relief. Phew.
June 6, 2014 Suffolk County Health Department approval for new septic system (took 8 weeks).
July 17, 2014 Letter of Disconnect received from PSEG (took 6 weeks).
July 24, 2014 Building Permit approved!
August 4-7, 2014 Demolition of house.
August 20-21, 2014 Removal of old foundation.
August 26, 2014 Survey and staking for house footprint and elevation.
August 29, 2014 Some trees removed.
September 3-4, 2014 The rest of the trees removed.
September 10-11, 2014 Dug the hole for the new foundation.
September 29-30, 2014 Poured footings for the foundation.
October 1-4, 2014 Poured the foundation walls.
October 14, 2014 Riverhead Town foundation inspection – approved.
October 16, 2014 Insulation foam on foundation and backfill.
October 20, 2014 Framing begins!
October 20-22, 2014 Sill plates, copper foil, strapping, rim boards, first floor joists, and subfloor done.
October 25-31, 2014 Finished first and second floor framing.
November 3-13, 2014 Framed the roof, starting with the open-to-below and moving west.
November 14-22, 2014 Plywood sheathing, strapping, and skirt done. Got temporary stairs.
November 25 – 26, 2014 Drywells installed.
December 1-2, 2014 Septic tank, leaching pool, and water line installed.
December 2, 2014 Riverhead Water District water line inspection: approved.
December 2, 2014 Suffolk County Health Department septic inspection: approved.
December 2, 2014 Riverhead Town strapping and sheathing inspection: approved.
December 2-14, 2014 Trims, soffits, and part of roof done. Two nor’easters, 4″ rain, and first snowfall during this time too.
December 12, 2014 Riverhead Town installed water meter and vault, connected to house water line.
December 16-19, 2014 Roof, trims, and Tyvek finished.
December 30-31, 2014 Windows installed. First and second floor decks framed.
January 19-23, 2015 Exterior insulation completed. Window trims and crown molding installed.
January 27, 2015 Front door and sliding glass doors installed the morning before blizzard #1.
February 23, 2015 Work resumes after a month of snow storms and bitter cold temperatures.
February 23-27, 2015 Rear Timbertech deck and front stair completed.
March 16, 2015 After more snow and cold temps, the siding installation finally begins.
March 20, 2015 One last snowstorm of the season… 5 more inches.
April 10, 2015 Siding installation finished.
May 16, 2015 Underground electric service installed.
May 27, 2015 Garage door installed.
May-June, 2015 HVAC installed.
June 10-13, 2015 Basement framing done and exterior railings installed.
July-August, 2015 Summer break. No money. No work.
Sept 4-12, 2015 Work resumes. Painting of exterior trims completed.
October 29, 2015 Underground propane tank installed (500 gallons).
Nov – Dec 2015 Rough plumbing and electric installed; Riverhead Town inspection passed.
November 9-16, 2015 Exterior walkway on east side of house installed.
November 27, 2015 Interior stairs installed. Steel brackets came a few weeks later.
December 17-31, 2015 Insulation and sheetrock installed.
January 20, 2016 They fired up the boiler and turned on the heat. Yay, but another bill to pay.
January 2016 Sheetrock taping and spackling.
